I’m excited to share that Coursera and BNP Paribas Cardif, a leading insurance and financial services company, are expanding our partnership to provide access to online education to all BNP Paribas Cardif customers across Latin America for five years. Starting June 1, 2023, over 5 Million BNP Paribas Cardif customers will have access to over 5,400 courses and credentials on Coursera to develop in-demand skills, advance their education, and access new career opportunities in the digital economy.
This partnership between BNP Paribas Cardif and Coursera is the first insurance policy that includes digital education services from top universities and companies worldwide for the same price as insurance, allowing access to high-quality education for populations of all incomes. Policyholders can learn from industry and university leaders such as Google, IBM, Yale, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and take courses whenever they want and at their own pace.
“Coursera is a high value-add service for our regional customers, especially as digital experiences become more expected. BNP Paribas Cardif’s experience in insurance is enhanced with the possibility not only of protecting families, but also of helping them grow and evolve continuously through the platform, thus creating a unique proposition,” says Francisco Valenzuela, BNP Paribas Cardif CEO for Latin America.”
“We are confident that adding education to the protection we already provide from BNP Paribas Cardif is a superior combination. We are very proud of this new agreement, as together we can offer our customers innovative protection solutions and improve their experience,” adds Valenzuela.
“The digital economy is creating new job opportunities, but people need access to affordable and flexible learning resources to gain the skills needed for these jobs,” said Jeff Maggioncalda, Coursera CEO. “We are excited to partner with BNP Paribas Cardif to help millions of people in Latin America improve their digital knowledge, acquire the necessary skills and certifications, and access new job opportunities that can increase their earning potential.”
Adoption of online learning has grown across the region, with 21.2 million learners on Coursera across Latin America and the Caribbean. With over 1.4 million learners on Coursera, Chile has emerged as one of the top markets for online education in the LAC region, ranked fifth regionally for highest number of learners. Fifty-one percent of the registered learners on the platform in Chile are women, highlighting the potential for online education and initiatives like this will further promote gender equality and empower women across the country.
